The GenoType Diet
by Jeff Cordeiro
We all know that only certain blood types can donate blood to other blood types. We know that there are
certain types of foods that we eat that agree with us and other foods that don’t. We also know that some people are severely allergic to
some foods. The book
Eat Right for Your Type, by Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo, ND, explains how these things are connected.
Basically, the antigens in our blood react negatively to certain foods that have characteristics similar to
different blood types. These reactions can cause anything from a little upset stomach to life-threatening allergic reactions.
His next book,
The Geno Type Diet, picks up where his first book
leaves off and breaks humans into more specific groups he calls Geno types.
Some call them nutritional types but, either way, determining what type you are and what you should eat is based on where your
ancestors evolved.
It appears as though it takes man about 10,000 years to adapt to a new environment. Just a few hundred years ago, migration to far away lands
was too difficult or too costly. People lived in the same village or small
town their entire lives. They ate what was native to their land – foods their ancestors had eaten for thousands of years. The introduction of new foods was a slow and gradual process, which gave them time to adapt. That’s all changed in
the past few centuries.
America is the melting pot of the world. In just a few hundred years, people from every corner of the globe have migrated to the United States. With modern agricultural practices and shipping methods, foods from all over the world are now also as close as the supermarket. Eating right is not as simple as
just eating foods that are considered healthy. You must eat the healthy foods that are right for your type.
For instance, if you’re Italian, eat traditional Italian foods. Spaghetti with tomato sauce does not qualify. Noodles
don't grow on trees and tomatoes are from the Americas. Let Dr. D'Adamo's
book be
your guide.
Everyone, however, can and should cut down on refined carbs.
Sugar and flour are manmade ingredients and, until very recently, sugar
was even too expensive for the masses. Unfortunately, that is no longer
the case and these foods just aren't right for any type.
According to the Center for Disease Control, 67% of Americans are now overweight or obese. Virtually every modern day disease can be linked back to people not eating the right foods for their
genetic type.
It has been suggested that there is really only one disease – cells that don’t function right. Feed your cells the nutrients that are right for them and your
body will do the rest.
Two great quotes to consider:
“Let thy food be thy medicine” – Hippocrates
“The doctor of the future will give no medicines, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the causes of disease.” – Thomas Edison
So, if you want to be healthy in the future, begin today by eating the foods that your ancient relatives ate.
